An evening with women who use art as means of gender justice and change in the community. Dr. Darlene Clover, is a UVic Professor of Leadership Studies and will chair the panel. She believes that “conversations about the arts are important, as they bring hope and new pedagogies of possibility. Amidst concerns about our impoverished sense of the creative possibilities in human life, women artists are engaging in practices that rupture the systems of meaning that produce gender hierarchies and social injustices; to imagine our world not as it is, but as it could be”.
The panel will include: Kimberly Croswell who works with puppetry and theatre; Francis Dick, a painter; Dr. Catherine Etmanski, who will introduce us to metissage; and slam poet Ann-Bernice Thomas.
