This week was another busy and hot week in the gardens. Thank you, Adele, Nadine Walther Bonnie, Jan, Maureen, Margret, Jennifer, and Anna, for helping make the gardens look beautiful.
It was Nadine's last week as a volunteer in the gardens. We will miss her help in the garden across from the garage; an area that she liked to carefully maintain. We will also miss her happy spirit and gentle humour. We look forward to knowing that we will see her from time to time at volunteer gatherings. Thank you for your many years of volunteering here. Good Luck and Happy Trails Nadine!
This week Bonnie and Margret cleaned and deadheaded the cutting border, touched up the courtyard beds and checked the parking lot bed. Adele and Anna removed huge blackberry brambles that were growing behind the Summerhouse and poking through into Millennium Park; the green space which runs between St Ann's and Beacon Hill Park. Maureen deadheaded the front steps gardens and made sure our pots are in tip-top shape. Jan made beautiful bouquets for inside. Walther and Jennifer worked on tying up the tomatoes which is a weekly task as they are growing so fast right now. They also watered all the vegetables and other plants as needed.
Jennifer made sure everyone was out of the sun and kept well hydrated during this hot part of the year.
