Thursday was our last garden volunteer day

Thursday was our last garden volunteer day of the year and luckily for us the rain did not make an appearance in the morning. Thank-you Bonny, Margret, Walther, Maggy, Jan, Helvana, Adele and the Langford Day Program for coming out and enjoying the final morning in the garden. It has been a real pleasure working with everyone this year. With gardening we have become a closer group and made special friendships. Everyone has great ideas and are looking for ways to improve the gardens at St Ann's Academy as the site inspires everyone of us. We cleaned up the shed, finished tidying up the cutting garden, spreading organic amendments into the vegetable garden and sweeping in various areas. Gardening will still go on in informal ways as there are still things to do such as bringing in the Dahlias and moving pots around, dividing plants and planting remaining containers that we have been finding just the right spots for. Over the winter we will be planning for next years gardens, ordering annuals for the spring and looking at seed catalogues and and finding more tools and garden supplies which will be needed.
